Zero Sunday

So I wanted to start the season earlier than usual. Now I know why I don't do any catching in October, because you cannot attract gulls with food.
We set the net around 8 and waited until half past 12 and no gulls landed in the catching area..In fact no gulls landed on the tip..
Of course after we put everything in the car the gulls started to land ..
So we read few rings, saw few interesting birds and went home.. Hope it will be better in 2 weeks.

The time has come

Yesterday we went to Jakuševec to see if there are enough gulls to start cannon netting season. It was nice with more than 1000 big gulls(mostly mich), around 100 BHGs and (at least) 1 LBBG of nominate ssp.
We managed to read 13 color rings (6 orange and 6 yellow on mich and one white on BHG).
So we decided to give it a try on Sunday. It will be the earliest start of the season since we started ringing on Jakuševec.

Poreč gull catching

I won't spent many words for this event in order to forget it asap:)

We were in Poreč for 3 days. First day we fired shortly after setting the net because I wanted to reset fast..
We caught 19 YLG.

And that was it.. On Wednesday and Thursday no gull landed in  catching area!!!WTF!!

I hope that rest of the season will be better:) As the temperatures are decreasing I hope we'll start new season on Jakuševec in the end of October.

One interesting bird. My first impression is Caspian because of the jizz , but wing and tail look more mich..Comments?
